Tin

The alternative to silver

Tin is a silver-white and very soft metal. It is usually extracted from the tin mineral cassiterite or tin ore. Tin is mainly deposited from sulphuric acid electrolytes in electroplating. The structure of the deposited layer can be changed by adding mostly organic substances. It is therefore possible to deposit glossy layers in addition to a matt tin layer.

Due to its good resistance to both humid and normal air and its good electrical conductivity with low contact resistance, tin is a preferred surface in the electrical and automotive industries. At Rieger Metallveredlung you will therefore find tin in our portfolio. We can use an automatic rack and barrel machine for processing.
