Stainless steel

The robust material

Rust-proof or corrosion-resistant steel – so-called stainless steel – is one of the most well-known metals. Its high density, excellent welding properties and the very high corrosion resistance make it a preferred raw material in many branches of industry, such as the automotive sector and the construction industry. The composition of the different alloying components of stainless steel grades (low or high alloy) is precisely defined and specified. Often other metals are used here, such as chrome, nickel or titanium.

As stainless steel is one of the oldest and best known metals, electroplating is of course included in the portfolio at Rieger. Chrome, nickel, copper and tin surfaces can be deposited on stainless steel. You can also find the upstream chemical processes again here, such as pickling, and the mechanical processes like grinding and polishing.
