The work at a glance:
Surface coating specialists use different processes and techniques to apply metallic coatings to metals or plastics. Surface coating specialists mainly work in industrial and artisanal businesses that apply metallic coatings to workpiece surfaces. For example, these may be electroplating workshops or hot-dip galvanising workshops They may also work in electroplating departments in the automotive supplier industry or in aerospace, PCB production and screw and tool production companies and suppliers.
The training at a glance:
A surface coating specialist is a recognised training profession in accordance with the Vocational Training Act (BbiG) and the Trade and Crafts Code (HwO). This nationally regulated 3-year training is offered in industry and in the craft sector.
